I found these corn lillies in a field in northern California, not sure exactly where. I wanted to photograph them in a way that showed both the many leaves that were there as well as a single plant. I accomplished this by darkening the outside leaves and leaving the leaves of the centered plant as they were, lighter. This gave me a subject for the image.
