Redwoods of Northern California

I have been to the redwoods national and state parks in northern California two times, as well as to the Muir Woods north of San Fransisco, and the Armstrong Reserve in Guerneville, both of which also have old growth redwood trees. The images inb this portfolio come from 2005, using an 8MP Canon 20D camera, and more recently in 2015-2017 using the 21MP Canon 5D Mark 2 and Nikon D800E / D850 digital cameras.

The Redwoods National Park is different than most other national parks, in that it is not in a single bounded area, but rather stretches along Highway 101 in spurts. There is Prarie Crek, lady Bird Johnson parks and further north is the Jededia State park near Crescent City.

The parks all have many trails and main roads that allow for very easy access to the trees. If you go in the right season, you can get some fog among the trees, making for more interesting images.
