Description: These trees were being lit by a late afternoon sun coming in from the right, and the distant cliffs made a great backdrop, being in the shadows of the valley. The foreground grass was also in shade, and so the trees are framed on both the top and bottom. The detail in the leafless branches is important to the texture of the subject and making this image work, so the large format 4x5 view camera I used came in handy, with the large negative capturing the details needed in a picture like this. |
